Like another review said, don't let the fact that it's inside a trucker motel fool you. It's an amazing find! The food was wonderful! The service was impeccable (even the little girl who seated us checked in with us a couple times)! Definitely have the house specialty burrito, but share with a friend. I think it was called the El Alazan Burrito. It was huge and wonderfully flavored. It included green chili, cheese, veggies, sour cream and guacamole. YUMMO!!

Times like this I'm glad for yelp! Wouldn't have thought of eating here by the looks of it. But food was as good as the reviews stated. Tasty complimentary table appetizers and impressive plates. Waitress didn't want to be there or didn't like us or something. But cute kid serving water was polite.

This is a good place for Mexican. I love how it really is a family owned restaurant, which gets huge kudos in my book. Service was great, as all members did their part in making sure our experience was exceeded. Unfortunately to every upside, there's that dreaded downside. I don't know if the chips are free refills, and I guess we could have asked, but we would have liked more as they were great. I ordered the lunch #8 which was a chimichunga, "sp?" and a beef tostada. The chimi was really small, I mean not even 1/4 of the plate big. And it wasn't crispy. Tasted more like a mini burrito. Though I will admit the chicken was great, just be aware of possible bones. And maybe this was because it was off the lunch menu. The rest of the plate was filled with rice an beans. You can tell these are made in-house. The tostada was very good. Crispy and perfect amount of toppings. My husband ordered #10 which is a Colorado burrito and side ordered a crispy taco. The steak was cubed, which is good. In general, food was ok. I'd be willing to try their dinner to see if the portions are a lot bigger and possibly more spices. If not, then I don't think I could recommend. But until then, yes, give it a try.

Chips and salsa here is just the best, very fresh and tasty. I ve dined in so many other Mexican restaurants and nothing could beat the taste here.

Great food and excellent service!!! We had the fajita burrito and chicken enchilada, both of which were very tasty. The house margaritas are delicious as well. If you're in Canon City you must dine here. Don't let the fact that it's joined to a hotel stop you because it's all by itself when you get inside. The view of the mountains from the patio is great too!

Amazing meal. The staff was welcoming & sweet. I got a burrito & chili rejeno. Both amazing. We live in Chicago where there's great Mexican. This is definitely a 4 star pick.

Food was bland. Not good Mexican food. Staff was friendly, but they never refilled my water. I would not recommend this place unless you are looking for Mexican food without much flavor or spice and ZERO heat. :'(

We were in Canon on business all week. Ate here twice. It's attached to the America's Best Value Inn. We were greeted by the owner's young son, who was dressed in business attire, very professional, and seated us promptly. The wait staff was wonderful, and have a team concept. No draft beer, but e were furnished with a quaint frozen glass boot to pour our beer in. Nice. I had a veggie burrito the first night, and a veggie fajita pork burrito the second. My business partner had a huge steak, and he ate the whole thing. Bottomless chips, and just an ok salsa. Food was good, service was excellent, and each night the staff waited overtime while we chatted and finished our beer. Awesome old Mexican music playing comfortably all night. Highly recommended!

Don't let the looks fool you. This place is located in the lobby of a motel and would be easy to drive by without a second look. That would be a mistake! The food is good, the service excellent and the staff very friendly. Probably the best Mexican food in the city. Definitely worth a try.

DO NOT let the small sign and location next to the motel fool you! This place serves FABULOUS Mexican food. Dining room and entryway (weight watchers next door) may also distract you..... trust me, let go of your diet just this one night.

This small restaurant located just off the lobby of the Americas best motel is a gem. The service is fast and friendly, food is good and prices are very reasonable. The place is clean and offers both American and Mexican breakfast. We've eaten here twice and will definitely be back

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
